Beauty Buzz – From Valentine’s Day Beauty Looks to 30 Superfoods to Try

My pick of beauty stories from the web this week…

Celebrity Valentine’s Day Beauty Looks – Grazia

It’s just over 3 weeks to Valentine’s Day. Golly! If you haven’t sorted your beauty look yet for that romantic date with your significant other, or good ol’ knees up with the girls (and why not?), fear not. Grazia has celebrity Valentine’s Day beauty looks to inspire you, from classic and natural to fully glammed-up dramatic. Check them out here.

5 New Ways to Wear Cat Eyes – Allure

While we’re on the subject of make-up looks, are you one of the lucky ones who’s mastered the art of creating the perfect cat flick? If so (yeah I’m jealous!)  how about trying your hand at something a little more daring? Allure, noting that cat eyes all over the Spring runways were far more dramatic than a simple flick of the wrist, features five new ways to wear the look here.

Twiggy Named as New L’Oreal Professionnel UK Brand Ambassador – Media Wide

The beauty industry took another step in the right direction this week, with Twiggy’s appointment as the new L’Oreal Professionnel UK Brand Ambassador. She’s 65 and is the latest older woman (albeit a former supermodel) chosen to front a beauty campaign, following Dame Helen Mirren (69) for L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Skincare , Tilda Swinton (53) for NARS Spring 2015 line-up, and Julia Roberts (47) for Givenchy Spring/Summer 2015. It’s a trend that’s not going unnoticed by mainstream media, who were all over the Twiggy story this week (Daily Express and TV gossip show Loose Women to name but two).

30 Superfoods to Try This Year – HuffPost UK Lifestyle

Huffington Post has drawn up a list of 30 superfoods to try this year.  New and fashionable often means pricey and hard to find, does it not? But according to HuffPost, these 30 are all everyday and affordable superfoods. They include Flaxseeds, Beets, Hemp Seeds, Cocoa (hey, hey!)… if you want to find out more, click here.

  2. I like the look of that bold cat eye. I might have to give it a try. I'm also really glad about those brands working with older women. It's so much more representative if they use women from a diverse range of backgrounds and different age groups.

  4. Tracey, Darling, this was a fun way of weekly beauty news! Although I am out for the new make up look- a bit dramatic, isn´t it? I think my neighbors would think: Now she really got nuts! lol. But I am in with the superfoods. I have been on a super successful diet since Christmas and will share soon some news. Kisses my wonderful blogger from the UK! Sissi www.beauty4free2u.com

  5. Cat eye is pretty but not for me, especially in this colour scheme. Superfoods are a mixed bag, aren't they? Beets have been a staple for centuries, all of a sudden they become a superfood (btw, I love beets). Not keen on kale, which imo is a much over-hyped food.

    1. Yes, a lot of those superfoods were obvious but good at least to see that they're all mainly stuff we have already in our store cupboards. Tx

  9. I liked the story about the fruit juice in the Daily Mail which inspired my current blog post. I like the trend of using older women for ad campaigns, it's really great that women of all ages get acknowledged, otherwise, you may think that once your twenties or thirties are over, you might as well be dead..

    1. The older model trend is welcome indeed. Just hope it's not a short-lived phase! Tx
