Pinks Boutique Ultimate Anti-Oxidant Renewal Eye Cream – Natural and Organic

A cocktail of anti-oxidants is the big draw of this eye cream from natural and organic skincare brand Pinks Boutique.

Anti-oxidant is a buzzword that crops up time and again in skincare. That’s because anti-oxidants are king. Essentially they fight the free radical damage (including environmental) that is responsible for both the hidden and visible signs of ageing – lines, sun spots, loss of elasticity and so on.

During the day they can also boost the effectiveness of topical sunscreen, and at night they can help to heal and repair skin. Wow! That’s some going.

Which anti-oxidant is best?

There is no single anti-oxidant that reigns supreme. Research shows that there are many very effective anti-oxidants. What’s key and what serves skin best is having a variety of them, a cocktail, working together in combination.

Key Ingredients

Pinks Boutique lists three ‘superstar’ anti-oxidants in its Ultimate Anti-oxidant Renewal Eye Cream. They are Buriti, Baobab and Pomegranate.

Buriti fruit oil is rich in beta-carotene (helps protect from UV damage) and essential fatty acids (the building blocks of the skin’s structure that help maintain elasticity and firmness).

Pomegranate is rich in anti-oxidants, conjugated fatty acids and gentle phytoestrogens. It is said to be even more effective than the much heralded green tea in fighting free radicals!

Baobab is rich in Omegas, and vitamins A, D and E, B1 and B2. The fruit extracts are said to contain up to six times more vitamin C than an orange.

The eye cream also includes vitamin E and Arnica Montana, providing flavonoids and carotenoids (further help against UV damage), as well as calming the skin and reducing dark circles.

Any good?

In terms of things you can easily measure, this eye cream is lovely and creamy, and feels immediately softening on the skin. It also does a good job of making skin feeling instantly hydrated. While it’s impossible to measure how effective it is at protecting against free radical damage, what we do know is that it contains a variety of research proven anti-oxidants.

It’s 100% natural and 90% certified organic. It contains no fragrance and the addition of calming ingredients such as arnica make it a good choice for those with sensitive skins.

However, two things let it down for me. One, I don’t like the pump dispenser bottle. It’s very difficult to control the amount of cream that comes out – you really only need a tiny amount. I would prefer it supplied in a jar. Second, the formula takes quite a bit of finger tapping to get it to absorb, though this could partly be down to the pump dispenser giving me more cream than needed.

  1. The boabab is an ingredient I am seeing more and more in products. It is a shame this does come with a dispenser which is a tad useless, you would have hoped when doing the final testing, someone might have realised it was an eye cream not a face cream.

  2. Did you noticed it helped with puffy eyes/dark circles round your eyes if you had them? I'm looking for a new eye cream and would love a more natural one (have very sensitive skin).

    1. Hi Miss Pond, I don't have puffy eyes or dark circles, so sorry I can't really say how effective this is for that. But the arnica and lack of fragrance in it are both a thumbs up to anyone with sensitive skin. I hope this helps? Tx
