The idea behind the changes is to keep things fresh, and also to better reflect the content that I’m now posting on the blog.
I also wanted to make it easier to locate the types of posts that are of most interest to you, be that beauty, fitness or health and wellness (hence the new tabs at the top of the home page).
When I launched Face Up Beauty two years ago, it was very much a straight beauty blog, and one largely focused around skincare. Then last Summer I launched Face Up Fitness, a new section devoted to anything and everything connected with barbells, dumbbells, medicine balls and cross-trainers.
Face Up Fitness was an obvious move as I am a total gym rat and have been for more than 15 years. It also meshes perfectly with the topic of beauty, as does health and wellness, which is something I have more and more been writing about.
Beauty is, and will always remain, the core passion for me. But as I’ve got older I’ve come to realise that having good skin is not just about slapping on this or that jar of face cream, popping on the SPF daily, and having facials whenever I can. Good skin comes from looking after my body as a whole.
Taking a holistic approach to beauty is increasingly what I am striving to do, though I’m not always successful at it; trying to kick a lifetime’s ‘addiction’ to sugar is a challenge. I hope my new-look blog better reflects that and I hope you like it!
