Beauty, Fitness, Health and Wellness

When I
launched Face Up Beauty in 2014 it was very much a beauty blog, and one largely focused on skincare.

Since then I've developed Face Up Fitness, a section devoted to barbells, dumbbells, medicine balls and every other item of gym paraphernalia.

Branching out in to fitness writing was an obvious move. I'd been training in gyms for decades.

In 2016 I was diagnosed with congenital hip dysplasia and moderate osteoarthritis. The news came as a massive blow and hit hard. It meant big changes to the way I trained. But I've kept positive and now see the diagnosis as just a new phase in my life.

Today training is focused on hip health and exercise that will help delay the need for a full hip replacement, an inevitability given the diagnosis.

As I’ve got older I’ve come to realise that having good skin is not just about slapping on face cream and SPF daily. Good skin comes from looking after your body as a whole.

In 2017 I put the blog on hold due to work commitments. The break gave me an opportunity to reflect on where I wanted to take it next. The answer was more fitness and more on my osteoarthritis journey - I hope my writings will help others in a similar position.

As for the day job I'm a freelance writer, editor, PR and social media manager. I turned freelance after working for 15 years as a London-based in-house journalist and PR.
